Birds in fligh workshops
A course to help you learn how to photograph birds in flight first hand.
Out in the field, hands on photography lessons in Calgary.
Capturing the moment is what it’s all about and if you can photograph a bird in-flight, then everything else becomes an easy target!
These instructional courses will be 4 hours long and will be held in Calgary (secret location).
For the best results, you will be learning how to expose in M mode (manuel exposure mode), perfect for birds in-flight and everything you intend to photograph.
Moving objects, practice, practice and more practice is what we will be doing along with tips & techniques that I use for tracking fast moving objects such as small birds and animals.
Secret Birding Location in Calgary.
The secret birding location isn’t really a secret and it will be held in Calgary, Alberta. But I need to scout a few good birding locations out a few days prior to the field trip to make sure we have some bird species to photograph. Once the location has been picked everyone attending the workshop will be emailed information about the location in Calgary. Our main subject will be early spring ducks, but don’t be surprised if we see an owl or two.

FAQ’s
Q. How can I pay?
A. Payments are securely transacted online through PayPal. You do not need to open a PayPal account to use your credit card. To secure your spot in the workshop a non-refundable $100 CA deposit is required. The remainder is paid on the day of the workshop.
Q. What if it rains like crazy on the day of the workshop?
A. The workshop will be rescheduled for the following Sunday.
Q. What size lens should I bring?
A. A 200mm lens would be the min focal length for shooting birds, but for practice other lenses will work. Remember, we will be handholding the lenses, so leave the LARGE tripod-only lenses behind. I use a 300mm f/4 for most of my work, sometimes with a tele-converter.
