That Coyote Stare., a close encounter with a city predator.

Make no mistake, this is a wild coyote, I came across this guy over a year ago on the foot path in Inglewood here in Calgary. He was a regular there (have other photos of him) but this time we happened to cross paths really close, at first about 10 feet away, had to move back to get him all in. He had no fear of me and even laid down for a scratch and a growl.

Not many rough-legged hawks around lately, we had a nasty cold snap last week, -30c or so and figure those cold temperatures may have pushed them further south. I did finally get out for some photo work yesterday and again late this afternoon. Originally looking for snowy owls to photograph, but instead found this awesome female juvenile rough-legged hawk. I did see 4 snowy owls over the last few days and two rough-legged hawks, one of the owls was a pure white adult male bird but I could not get close enough for photos.. I took over 200 photos of rough-legged hawks in the last few days and will post more photos ASAP...
